We needed a wedding supper venue. The Colden Mill Restaurant, built in 1814, is set in the ski country near Colden, NY. It turned out to be perfect. They have a warm, inviting and somewhat intimate side dinning room with a fireplace and bookcases. No stairs for older guests to deal with. (Or, they have a larger room on the second floor). We started with a homemade chicken rice soup, excellent! The warm bread was great with the soup! We decided on a family style dinner of roast chicken breast with a tomato sauce & fresh mozzarella, and roast beef with gravy. The beef was fork tender. The potatoes were buttery and delicious. The carrots & green beans were tender crisp - perfect. All bowls, platters and glasses were kept full. The chef made sure that one of our guests had a vegan dinner, as requested. I was told that it was great. The staff was professional and easy to work with. You could not ask for a better location for a wedding supper, or for any special occasion or meeting. We highly reccomend the Mill - (and they have an excellent fish fry too!).
I had a wonderful experience of the Colden Mill. The antique decor and overall atmosphere was wonderful and unique. The food was amazing, I had the pan seared salmon it was cooked to perfection on top of a delicious herb pancake. My boyfriend had The Roasted Chicken special, which he loved. The service was fantastic. The owner was also there making sure his customers were satisfied. We will definitely be back!
An absolute must for any real foodie in WNY. Fine dining without the pretentious atmosphere or exorbitant price. My wife and I both started with the grilled romaine parmesan salad and it was so good that we ordered a 3rd one to split during dinner. I had the duck and my wife the NY strip steak - both were excellent. The staff was very friendly and professional and we did not wait long at all for our meals. Tasteful music, including old blues was played in the background; a nice attention to detail rather than generic "restaurant music". Still, the best part was the food. I have had plenty of fine dining in my time, and the Colden Mill goes toe-to-toe with the best of them.
We celebrated our anniversary with another couple last night at the Mill. All agreed it was a great dinner and we would return.
Good food, good service a little on the expensive side.
